Academic Rules & Regulations

Following are some changes in the academic rules and regulations effective from January 15, 2001:

1.      Academic Advisors

A faculty member is assigned to each class section to provide counseling and advice on academic matters. The students may consult the respective advisor for selecting a sequence of courses keeping in view his or her academic performance in previous semesters.

2. Attendance Policy

Students are required to attend all (i.e. 100%) classes. However, an absence of a maximum of 20% may be condoned on genuine reasons. Failure to meet attendance requirements will render the students ineligible for appearing in the final examination of concerned course.

3. Maximum Number of Courses for a Student

·       Students with no academic warnings will be allowed to take normal course workload that is 5 courses in a regular semester and 3 courses in summer semester.

·       Students with academic warnings will be allowed to take only 4 courses in regular semester and 2 courses in summer semester. Such students must consult their Academic Advisors before registering for the courses. Correspondingly the registration form must be signed by the advisor. However, the number of courses may be allowed to increase or decrease with the consent of the assigned Academic Advisor.

·       Students in full-time/part-time employment will be required to furnish an undertaking from their respective employers. The form will specify the time a student will be required to devote for a course. The maximum number of courses for such a student may range from 1 to 3.

4. Examinations Re-take Policy

Students who miss any of the mid terms or Final exams would be required to submit an application in the Academic Office within 3 days of the date of the examination. A valid medical certificate or accidental condition must also be reported along with the application.

Retake of the missed mid-term examination or adjustment of grades (Corresponding to the missed mid-term) in the final examination would be the discretion of the respective course faculty and/or Academic Committee. The provision of retake/ adjustment would only be granted against one mid-term examination, per course, subject to the conditions discussed above. In case of adjustment, 75% weightage of the final examination would be assigned.

There would be no retake of missed quizzes/class tests /projects / term papers / presentations or assignments.
